Maurer Kadarka 1880 2018


Natural dry red wine from the oldest known Kadarka vineyard on the planet. Vines planted in 1880,  pre-phyloxeira bush-vines giving very concentrated juice. Fermented with native yeast in open vat, barreled down to old Hungarian oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

It smells and tastes like fall, vibrant, with berries, plums, rhubarb, spice, a hint of aged balsamic and underbrush. It shows a botrytis affected nose, but bone dry and with lively acidity.
Most unique red wine, always limited in quantity.
Serve with: duck, pheasant, hear, rabbit, veal and vegetarian and vegan dishes
