Botunjac – Rasplet 2017
Rasplet is another wonderful white wine from Kosta Botunjac hands, made from estate grown grape variety Riesling Italico. Rasplet means ‘conclusion’, referring to his daughter who is the conclusion of the love between him and his wife.
The grape variety Riesling Italico, also called Welsch Riesling, has a totally different origin than the German Rhine Riesling.
Riesling Italico vines are popular and widespread across vineyards in Eastern European countries and in central Europe, where the soil lends itself to this variety. The Riesling of Italian descent and the Riesling of German origin can not be compared in terms of taste. Tasting both you will discover them to be completely different wines.
Riesling produced by Kosta Botunjac is a dry, crystal clear wine with green and gold color accents. Pale gold it has a somewhat alcoholic nose of apples and rich, dark musk aromas of pear with a hint of resin and yeast.
All Botunjac wines are so-called ‘vin naturels’ or natural wines: unfiltered and produced without the use of selective yeasts, added enzymes and without the use of electric pumps.
