Muller-Koeberlé – Symbiose 2021
Alsace Orange Wine
Symbiose is a natural Alsatian orange wine that is as intriguing as it is delightful. Crafted as a field blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Muscat and Gewurztraminer, this wine boasts a complex and exhilarating character.
The grapes are grown organically, without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers and are manually harvested at optimal ripeness. In the cellar, the winemaker follows a natural approach, without any additions of sulfites, yeasts or enzymes. The grapes undergo a 5-day maceration on the skins, giving the wine its distinctive orange hue and slightly tannic structure. Symbiose 2021 is a testimony to the winery’s commitment to traditional winemaking and respect for nature.
The nose of this wine is a burst of exotic fruits and flowers, with notes of lychee, nectarine, strawberry and rosehip. A spicy trail of cinnamon and white pepper adds a touch of warmth and complexity.
On the palate Symbiose is a well balanced wine that offers a wonderful interplay of fruity aromas and floral tones. You can taste the elderflower and roses that complement the juicy fruits, as well as a refreshing bright acidity that adds vibrancy. The wine has a crisp texture, with fine tannins giving it body and length. The finish is long and elegant, embraced by a flinty slightly smoky note delightfully reflecting the granite soil of Burchwegreben vineyard.
