Sagmeister – Sauvignon Blanc ZERO 2021
Serbia, Fruška Gora
Erno Sagmeister’s Sauvignon Blanc is a charismatic exploration of the variety, offering a unique perspective on this classic grape. Its golden amber hue and hazy appearance immediately hint at the wine’s unconventional character.
The nose is a complex tapestry of aromas. Citrus notes of lime and orange intertwine with the dried fruit character of apricot and raisin. A floral undercurrent of acacia blossom, chamomile, and rose adds elegance and complexity. Underlying these vibrant top notes is a resinous quality and a distinct note of slightly roasted almond, suggesting the wine’s extended maturation of 24 months in old Hungarian barriques.
The palate is a rich and full-bodied experience, characterized by a dry profile and moderate acidity. The wine is exceptionally well-balanced, with all the elements harmoniously integrated. Ripe white fruit flavors are complemented by the subtle influence of the oak aging, creating a complex and satisfying taste. This is a Sauvignon Blanc that challenges expectations, offering a mature and contemplative expression of the grape.
