Saturday the 2nd of April 2022, let’s do some gems made by Oszkar Maurer.
We start with Corvina White, a blend of indigenous grapes Bakator, Mezes Feher and Szeremi Zold, vintage 2013. Even if it is 9 years old it’s still grippy and fresh.
Elegant nose with prevailing aromas of white flowers, propolis and honey, peach and yellow apple.
We have Kadarka open from old vines from1880, definitely the oldest Kadarka vineyard in the universe and one of the oldest vineyards on Planet Earth surviving the phylloxera plague, devastating vineyards all over Europe in the last decades of the 19th century.
We do a small vertical tasting, opening the bottles of Kadarka 1880, vintages 2018 and 2019 and also comparing it with a young Kadarka coming from a vineyard from1920.
Also one of the last bottles of Totem, an electrifying and energising orange Rhine Riesling blessed with noble rot, some say if you drink the whole bottle you can plug yourself to a Tesla and fully charge it in half an hour.
We start at 1 o’clock and finish… when the bottles are empty.
