Kristinus New Arrivals Wine Tasting

Saturday 20th of August 2022
Craft Wine
Frans Halsstraat 35
1072BK Amsterdam

New arrivals from the south side of lake Balaton in Hungary, new vintage of
Analog – Olaszrizling, Traminer and Sauvignon Blanc and

Liquid Sunshine – Chardonnay, Szürkebarát AKA Pinot Gris.

As debut Oliver and Siller.
Oliver is a blend of Irsai Oliver and Zenit, both indigenous Hungarian grape varieties. A fresh, aromatic and delightful wine.

Siller is halfway between red and rose, made of Zweigelt – pristine, fruity and easy-drinking.

Siller as a wine style is actually brought to the Pannonian plains by Schwabian winemakers.
They used to blend red and white grapes trying to combine freshness of a white and flavour of a juicy, soft red wine.

Hungarian wine makers predominantly used red grapes but with short maceration, compared to maceration for red wine, even before somebody in Brussel decided to ban mixing of white and red grapes.
Some local grapes like Kadarka, Kekfrankos, Portugieser and in this case Zweigelt are very much suitable for this style giving low tannins and pleasant red fruit acidity wine, turning out to be a natural born chiller.

Throughout their long history Hungarian wines have been perceived as exclusive, mysterious and nearly always lauded.
Kristinus is a wine estate bravely committed to biodynamic, low intervention approach in winemaking with a strong belief that natural balance in the vineyards and cellar is the best, if not the only way to truly reflect the terroir.
Taking a step back to traditional winemaking is actually a leap forward.

Coming Saturday, 20th of August, we have bottles open for tasting.
