Muller-Koeberlé – Rouge Langenberg 2020
This is a natural Pinot Noir from Alsace.
The grapes come from the Langenberg – Clos des Aubépines plot, which is one of the most prestigious sites in Alsace, facing south and resting on a granite soil. This terroir gives the wine a vibrant and expressive character, with a savoury saline kick on the finish.
The wine has a dark purple hue with flashes of ruby.
The nose is charming and complex, with scents of red cherry, plum, fig and prune, along with earthy and smoky nuances. The mouthfeel is rich and full, with tastes of dried red and black fruit, liquorice and pepper.
The wine has a high flavour intensity, with dominant secondary and tertiary flavours as a result of two years of oak aging without toping-up the barrels.
Bold but with typical Alsatian grace, powerful but elegant.
The lively acidity is balanced, tannins are smooth and well-integrated and the finish is long and clean.
