Saturday the 2nd of September,
we organize a wine tasting featuring brand new wines in the Netherlands by winemaker Christian Ottenbreit.
Winery Ottenbreit is situated in Franconia – Germany, an exquisite and famous wine region in the northwestern part of Bavaria, where wine has been produced for over 1200 years.
We are happy to introduce Christian’s, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau and a Red wine of the increasingly popular Franken-grape Domina blended with Pinot Noir.
Silvaner is considered the signature grape of Franconia, giving fragrant and mineral wines. It is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world, primarily grown in Germany and Alsace and it originated from a natural cross between Traminer and Österreichisch Weiss.
Müller-Thurgau is a newer grape variety, and it was created by Hermann Müller from the Swiss Canton of Thurgau in 1882 at the Geisenheim Grape Breeding Institute in Germany. It is a crossing of Riesling and Madeleine Royale. Nowadays it is second most planted grape in Germany, producing light, straightforward and fruity wines with faint muscat flavour and mild acidity.
Red grape variety Domina is a cross between Portugieser and Spätburgunder, a typical grape variety for the Franken region. It is deep red in colour with great fruity cherry and blackberry fragrance.
The winemaking style of Christian Ottenbreit is impressive and remarkable.
The combination of extended maceration and long oak barrel aging accentuates his unique style, adding more structure, texture and aroma to the wines.
He combines laser sharp precision and purity with the complexity and joyfulness of a natural wine.
Don’t miss out!
